General volunteer opportunities

Available opportunities

We have various volunteer opportunities in diverse areas of interest. Perkins has two levels of Volunteer Clearance depending on the assignment. For Level 1 opportunities – see the Perkins Volunteer Calendar below. For Level 2, please see some current opportunities listed below. Select the Perkins Volunteer Calendar to view shifts and toggle through future months to sign up in advance.

Level 1 Clearance: Volunteer is able to participate in any Level 1 activities on the calendar of volunteer opportunities. These include group events and workdays. You must be at least 12 years old and attest to the waivers below to receive Level 1 clearance.

Level 2 Clearance: Volunteer has matched with an available current opportunity that includes the need for additional clearance due to the nature of the assignment and proximity to the student body. You must be at least 15 years old to participate in Level 2. Please reach out to [email protected] if you would like to explore Level 2 opportunities to find a match, and then begin the clearance process.

Level 2 Offerings Fall / Winter 2024:

Finance Support on Campus in Watertown: Tuesday & Thursday between 8:30-11 am
Visitor Experience Desk Support on Campus in Watertown: Monday through Friday shifts (any time period) between 9 am-2 pm
Accounting Support (requires Accounting degree) 10-20 hours weekly (any time period)

Additional service opportunities

Service Enterprise Partnerships

Perkins partners with federal and state partners TerraCorps, AmeriCorps, and Massachusetts Service Alliance to provide opportunities for 8-11 months of service to interested participants.

Service members can choose a service term to support Perkins students in expanded core curriculum activities (AmeriCorps) or support our campus grounds and students with outdoor gardening/horticulture activities (TerraCorps). Service members will receive a stipend, valuable training and professional development, and other support during their service term.
