Notability is used for note-taking and PDF annotation. You can create hand-written or typed notes as well as draw and highlight PDF texts. The app can also be used to review what was done in the O&M lesson with a younger student.
Using an iPhone or an iPad, the instructor takes pictures of landmarks, places or points of interest visited, or just objects that the student was able to point out along the route.
The instructor should describe the picture and “ask for help” from the student to keep him engaged and increase his awareness of the environment.
Once the pictures have been taken, open the Notability app and tap on the + sign to add a photo.
The photos that have been saved will be displayed. The instructor will have to choose the ones that were taken during the lesson and insert the photo on the page.
The instructor can place the photos in order of appearance within the route or ask the student to order the photos. The instructor can ask “Wh” questions while presenting the pictures in front of the student to help him recall.
The student can easily drag the pictures, add numbers or write what he saw.
The instructor can play with the photos to teach different concepts. The photos can even been used to create a map.
The student can start creating his own O&M journal. When the journal is finished it can be shared with parents or with other teachers by sending them by email or Google Drive.
