In the past 13 years, Weningsih has worked with Perkins to provide consultation and technical assistance to partners in Indonesia who serve children with visual impairment, are deafblind or have multiple disabilities. Her responsibility involves coordinating and implementing training and supporting the development of regional plans with the ultimate goal of implementing quality and sustainable services for children and their families, especially in Indonesia.
Weni has been working in the area of deafblind and multiple disabilities for the past 20 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in special education and studied the education of social workers. She is also a graduate of the Perkins Educational Leadership Program. Over the past 10 years Weni has acquired experience as an instructor, speaker and facilitator at the national, regional and international levels. Her passion is working in education for children with multiple disabilities and deafblindness, including children with learning disabilities and intellectual disabilities. She also has experience developing itinerant teachers in inclusive settings, program models, and partnerships with national and local governments.
In her career Weni believes “we always learn about meaningful life and courage from the most vulnerable”.
