Valeria has over 20 years of experience working in the field of special education with children with deafblindness and multiple disabilities; 15 years of which she spent working in a classroom and 7 years as a dedicated team member of the Administration of the Fátima Institute in Buenos Aires (Dirección de Institución Fátima). Fátima is a model school and is recognized as the first private institution in Latin America founded specifically for the attention and care of people with deafblindness. She is trained as a specialized teacher in visual impairment, and holds a Master’s in Special Education with a concentration in multiple disabilities. She is also a graduate of our very own Educational Leadership Program (ELP) at Perkins School for the Blind. Valeria has worked as a tutor for the Perkins International Academy courses at different levels, and was a part of the Strategic Working Group of Argentina during the creation of a project to establish and recognize deafblindness and multiple disabilities as separate terms.
