About

Marisol has supported the Perkins Transition Center on a part-time basis since 2019 and joined as a permanent member of the team in 2022. She is excited to continue to help blind and visually impaired job seekers obtain and retain meaningful employment.

Marisol’s professional and educational endeavors have led her up the East Coast, from her home state of Florida to the New England area, where she currently resides. Her professional journey began in Washington DC where she was formally trained in managing cases of Equal Employment and Opportunity for the Department of the Army. After relocating to Boston and earning a Masters of Social Work, Marisol entered the blindness field where the focus of her work has been around helping blind and visually impaired individuals of all ages develop tools needed for success in employment and education. She has held various roles including Job Developer, Lead Residential Coordinator, and Transition Group Facilitator.

Marisol has an interest in improving the employment landscape for people who are blind through the lens of her own lived experience. This involves working both with employers and candidates who are blind to achieve individual successes and also to improve employment outcomes across the community.

Being of Cuban descent, Marisol is fluent in both English and Spanish. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and probably being one of the few Floridians who likes snowy weather.
