Itinerant Teacher, Lead Teacher

Marie Russo-Amaral has been working in the blindness field for over 30 years. She is an Itinerant Teacher for Perkins Community Programs and has been Lead Teacher for the past eight years. Marie has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a master’s degree in Special Education, and a master’s in Education as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments from the University of Massachusetts Boston. Marie is a member of the Commission on Disabilities in her hometown. Marie’s interest in this field was inspired by her two children, who were both diagnosed with Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis. She has worked toward learning all that she can to support them and strives to learn more and help families throughout their journey as well. Marie has been adapting games for her own children since they were little and continues to do the same for her oldest daughter, who has two children of her own.
