About

Iris is a specially trained school psychologist in working with students who have visual impairments or deafblindness. She interned in the Boston Public Schools district and in the Perkins School for the Blind Deafblind program. Prior to starting at Perkins, Iris worked as a team chair/LEA for Cambridge Public Schools in their Special Start program. There, she worked to evaluate and place children who were aging out of Early Intervention services and were transitioning into special education services on their third birthday. Additionally, Iris provided PCA services to a young child who is deafblind for four years. She worked with the child as the family had just started the process of advocating via the IEP process with their school district to eventually secure an out of district placement and was with the family throughout the entire process, which provided an inside perspective into this complicated journey.
