Gena Heidary, MD, Ph.D.

Associate Professor, Harvard Medical School; Ophthalmologist, Director of Neuro-Ophthalmology Service and Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship Program, Boston Children’s Hospital


Dr. Gena Heidary contributes to three clinical studies involving pediatric optic pathway gliomas. She is a clinician-scientist and the only dually fellowship-trained ophthalmologist with specialization in pediatric ophthalmology and neuro-ophthalmology at Boston Children’s Hospital and the Harvard Medical School system at large. She also serves as the ophthalmologist for the multidisciplinary Neurofibromatosis Group at Boston Children’s Hospital. She is the site Principal Investigator for multicenter studies conducted by the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG). She was recently selected as a Scholar Member for the Boston Children’s Hospital Academy for Teaching and Educational Innovation and Scholarship. Members of this organization work together to promote scholarly excellence and innovation in clinical education throughout the hospital.
