About

Burju Sari is a Licensed Itinerant Teacher of the Visually Impaired and a CVI lead teacher, working with the birth-3 population in the Community Programs at Perkins. In this role, she collaborates closely with Early Intervention families and service providers, offering consultations to support children with visual impairments.

Burju holds an MBA certificate from Salem State University and a Master’s in Education for Teaching Students with Visual Impairment from UMass Boston. She also achieved a Graduate Certificate in Cerebral/Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) from UMass Boston.

Her professional journey includes significant experience at the CVI center, where she initially served as a CVI coordinator for middle and high school students and their educational teams. In this capacity, she collaborated with school teams and families, led CVI training sessions, conducted assessments, and supported the implementation of educational programming for students with CVI. Following this, she advanced to the role of Assistant Director of Assessment and Learning for the CVI Center.

Burju has also shared her expertise as an adjunct faculty member at Fitchburg State University, teaching “Cerebral/Cortical Visual Impairment: A Foundational Overview and Understanding” through the Perkins eLearning platform. She develops and leads trainings on CVI and blindness, both locally and in Europe, for families and professionals.

Her personal experiences, particularly as a mother of a son with special needs and CVI, have driven her dedication to supporting, educating, and advocating for students, families, and educators in the field of visual impairment.
