About

Alessia Spiesz is a school psychologist in the Secondary School at Perkins School for the Blind, specializing in working with children and adolescents with multiple disabilities, particularly visual impairments, blindness, and comorbid conditions. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut, where she studied Human Development and Family Studies with a specialization in Early Childhood Development and Education. Before becoming a school psychologist, Alessia worked in various early childhood learning centers, including JumpStart, Early Head Start, Head Start, and the University of Connecticut Child Development Laboratories (CDL), a model demonstration laboratory center serving both the university and the state. This early childhood foundation remains at the core of her practice as a school psychologist. Alessia also worked as a therapeutic mentor for Riverside Community Care, supporting children and adolescents with medically diagnosed behavioral and emotional challenges.
