Lacey Clericuzio is one of ten Deafblind young adults who attended the Transition to Work Program hosted by the New England Consortium on Deafblindness (NEC), the Helen Keller National Center (HKNC), and the New York State Deafblind Project. This four-part series included workshops that addressed the do’s and don’ts of the workplace, seminars on how to advocate for yourself and acclimate to a new employer, and a panel of successful Deafblind adults who shared their own personal experiences. Here is an interview with Lacey on her experience in the workplace and the Transition to Work Program!
Q: What is your job title?
A: Hello, My name is Lacey Clericuzio. I work as a credentialing specialist for Intelycare. Intelycare is a nursing staffing agency.
Q: What are your job responsibilities?
A: My job responsibilities are checking documents that our nurses and applicants send us to check if they are up to date, checking if they are compliant and correct for their specialty type and the right type of documentation. I also communicate with our nurses when their documents are expiring and help them through any document-related issues. I also process background checks on new applicants. Bonus: I manage a work channel to teach American Sign Language to my colleagues. This to name a few there is so much more to credentialing.
Q: What did you like the most about the Transition to Work Program?
A: I love the panel portion of the program because I got to hear directly from deafblind panelists. They have a lot of great ideas and tips that I wished I had known earlier. I tried some of their tips and… It worked.
