NEC explorer corner

Meet Amelia, who runs NEC's explorer corner!

Amelia kneels next to an outdoor flower pot while smiling.

Hello NEC Readers and supporters. My name is Amelia. I’m an intelligent, adventurous, positive person with many other wonderful characteristics. I was born with low vision as well as hearing loss. Like you, I have faced many obstacles in my life and I am sure there are more to come. However, I never let such barriers deter me from succeeding. I always put my best foot forward.  NEC has invited me to begin blogging and sharing my passion of learning, traveling, storytelling through writing and share my family adventures. I have had the pleasure of traveling with my family to many different destinations such as: Maine, Florida, Canada and Norway. I also like to explore the great outdoors. I am so excited and can hardly wait to share with you every month on this community blog. I thought about calling my piece the NEC Explorer Corner and would love this blog to be an interactive, fun connection between people. An overabundance of ideas flooded my brain with all sorts of interesting facts, stories and fun experiences. Some of the topics will consist of, well I guess you’ll have to follow me. As well as my introduction, I have a poem for you today.

The call of an explorer

Amelia Ruff

Like a newly sprouting planting coming to and victoriously emerging through the topsoil reaching for the vast, never-ending sky.  My love to learn, experience and explore, sprouts fiercely and fills every inch of my soul.  Submerge yourself into the fountain of global essence. Ignite the desire and seek the many diverse opportunities set forth upon your path.  Don’t be afraid to immerse yourself in the intricacies of the many cultural fringes that expands across the colorful spectrum of our world.  Indulge in the warm fragrances of Moroccan spices.  Sense the calmness that blankets you while you look upon Tibetan prayer flags.  See the spectacular rays of the Borealis illuminate the Arctic night sky. Be mystified by the ancient ruins of Peruvian Machu Picchu.  Only when you thrust and propel yourself forward and experience such offerings will you attain the true understanding of humanity.  Spread your enlightened selves and fully emerge like brilliant colorful butterfly from its cocoon.

I am really looking forward to sharing my experiences with you all. See next month.

Amelia
