Admissions
Admissions process
The admissions office at Perkins School for the Blind works closely with families and school districts that are interested in enrolling a student and guides them through the application process.
The timeframe from initial application to matriculation is different for each student. Our admissions team is here to support you through every step of the process.
When you’re ready to apply, please submit your application via our online form. Be sure to have all of your child’s information handy so we may have a complete picture of your child.
Once you have submitted the online application, please send all supporting academic and medical documents to [email protected], including your child’s current IEP, Triennial Evaluations, Vision Exam Report, Hearing Exam Report (if applicable), Neuropsychological Evaluation (if applicable), and Perkins Medical Forms (which you will receive in a separate email).
Once all materials have been submitted, our staff will schedule your admission visit to our campus in Watertown, Mass. During this visit, your student will take part in a class and meet individually with Related Service Providers. At the same time, you will meet with our school psychologist, social worker, health services team and school administrators to learn more about our program and relay your expectations to us.
Following the campus visit, our team will meet internally to determine whether or not Perkins is an appropriate placement for your child.
When a student is accepted and the school district agrees to a placement, Perkins, the student’s family and the school district must agree to the terms of the student’s IEP, service delivery and supports.
Once everything is in place, we’ll work together to finalize a start date for your child to begin their journey at Perkins.
Our admissions team is ready to assist you. We accept students on a rolling admissions timeline so you can get started today.
