Have you noticed that in the past year, Siri has developed a frustrating habit? When using an iPhone with VoiceOver enabled and asking Siri a question, VoiceOver often starts speaking at the same time as Siri, forcing you to restart the interaction.
For example, you might ask Siri to look up information on a topic. Siri responds by displaying the answer on the screen, and VoiceOver announces it aloud. However, because Siri is set to listen for follow-up questions by default, it sometimes mistakenly interprets VoiceOver’s announcement as a new question. This leads Siri to answer this “new question,” causing the original results to disappear.
This does not happen to everyone, but if it does happen to you, there is a way to circumvent this issue! Turn on a setting called Require “Siri” for Interruptions. This means that Siri will stop listening for follow up questions until you wake up Siri by saying the word “Siri” or “Hey Siri”.
