Description
This micro-credential is awarded to individuals who have successfully completed The Role of the Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments and Multiple Disabilities.
Competency
In order to earn this micro-credential, participants will identify:
- The knowledge and skills required by a TVI in both public and private school environments.
- The knowledge and skills required by a TVI as a general education teacher in a specialized school setting for students with visual impairments.
- A variety of team models & the roles & responsibilities of each team member.
- A variety of educational settings in which services can be provided by a TVI to students with visual impairments & multiple disabilities.
- The methods by which instruction can be delivered by a TVI in a general education setting for students with visual impairments and multiple disabilities.
- Identify the method by which services are provided to students with visual impairments and multiple disabilities in specialized school settings.
- Identify guidelines and assessments to determine the quantity of services provided to students with visual impairments & multiple disabilities.
- Identify his/her role in performing, environmental, functional vision, and developmental assessments for students with visual impairments and multiple disabilities.
- Identify strategies for developing IEP goals as part of the educational team.
- Identify his/her role in providing instruction to students with visual impairments and multiple disabilities in general education and specialized school contexts.
- Strategies to promote effective collaboration between the TVI and the educational team.
