Students develop work skills by performing many skills in real-life settings. The Perk Café at Perkins School For The Blind offers a wide variety of options for work.
It is essential that work skills be taught early, chores and active participation in performing tasks should begin when students are young.
Students participate in each step of the process, beginning by carrying the sign out to show that the Café is open.
The specific steps of the procedure will depend on what is happening in the Café that day, as well as on the goals and abilities of each individual student.
