Headphone Jack Removed in the iPhone 7

Benefits of removing the headphone jack from the iPhone 7.

There has been a lot of chatter concerning the removal of the headphone jack with the new iPhone 7.  Apple has many reasons for removing the headphone jack – let’s take a look at the benefits.

Apple is excited about their new AirPods – wireless headphones, with buttonless design that relies on double taps and Siri commands.  Released in October 2016, AirPods are promised to have excellent sound quality.

Headphone manufactures have been offering wireless headphones – also known as Bluetooth headphones – including bone conducting headphones that are often preferred by people with vision loss and Orientation and Mobility Specialists.

Apple is providing an adapter with each iPhone 7 that plugs into the lightening port.  This adapter will enable people to continue to plug in their existing headphones.

Did you know that the audio connector (wired headphone) technology is more than a 100 years old?  Did you know that two other smartphone manufactures have already released phones without the headphone port?
