This activity works on time concepts using a daily calendar. Students will gain an awareness of holidays and seasons while working on number sequencing. Lessons include Math, Concept Development and Independent Living Skills.

Blank calendar page (calendars are commercially available or can be teacher-made)

Braille and large print stickers with numbers 1-31 (one set per student as needed)

Give each student a blank calendar page at the beginning of each month.

Students are to review the month, day and date each morning.

The teacher uses a large blank calendar with number cards in braille and print.

After identifying the month, day and date, the teacher selects a student to place the appropriate number on the large classroom calendar.

Students write the date on their calendars being careful to write the date in the appropriate square. Students who are blind and those unable to write the numbers may be given stickers with the date in braille or print. Have the students place the sticker in the appropriate block.
