Resolved issue with Google Chrome, NVDA and math

Update NVDA to resolve this issue!

Updated January 16, 2025: The recent release of NVDA 2024.4.2 has fixed the issue where NVDA was not correctly reading math content in Chrome and Edge.  Download the 2024.4.2 from this page.

Are you experiencing difficulties accessing math content while using a screen reader with the Chrome browser? You’re not alone! As of December 2024, the Google Chrome browser is not rendering math correctly. For now, consider using the Firefox web browser as an alternative.

Google’s accessibility team has been notified of the issue, but no timeline has been provided for a resolution. It’s always helpful for more users to report such issues to the app developer, as problems affecting larger numbers of people are often prioritized.
