The Bluetooth Keyboard Commands with VoiceOver on the iPad manual will review the VoiceOver gestures and teach the Bluetooth keyboard commands that are comonly used to drive Google Docs/Pages, Google Drive/Dropbox, Mail, Safari and iBooks. These apps will be expanded to include how to edit, highlight,copy, paste, digital note taking, and other commands that enable students to complete their homework assignments and assessments. Bluetooth Keyboard Commands with VoiceOver on the iPad manual is designed to follow the first manual, iPad Accessibility Features for Blind and Low Vision Students. These manuals are written specifically for teachers of the visually impaired as they instruct academic students with visual impairments to successfully and efficiently use an iPad in mainstream classrooms.
Each section of the manual contains information about the task, teacher hints and teaching strategies, and step-by-step activities that can be used with students. The activities build on each other, creating a strong iPad accessibility curriculum. This manual was written to accompany the corresponding Bluetooth Keyboard Command with VoiceOver on the iPad workshop. The manual is organized into the following six chapters. Under each chapter are links to the accompanying videos, Paths to Technology posts, Bluetooth keyboard command charts and worksheets. In addition to the attached documents, you will need two free iBooks to complete the activities: The Very Wimpy Kid and Reach for the Stars: Touch, Look, Listen, Learn.

The iPad has numerous general features and accessibility features to enable users to customize the iPad for a specific user. The Settings chapter explains the various options and provides information to help you determine which options are best for you/your student.
02 Review Educational Apps with VoiceOver Gestures
The Review chapter is designed to refresh your iPad skills using VoiceOver gestures; participants should already be familiar with Pages or Google Docs, Dropbox or Google Drive, iBooks, Mail and Safari. Participants should also be familiar with how to edit, copy, paste and highlight, as well as how to create notes and study cards in iBooks. Participates should be familiar with VoiceOver gestures!
03 General Navigation using Bluetooth Keyboard Commands (Quick Nav is ON)
The General Navigation chapter reviews and expands general navigation – moving around the iPad’s Home screens – using a Bluetooth keyboard. For General Navigation, Quick Nav is On. Participants should already be familiar with navigating the iPad’s Home screens with VoiceOver gestures.
04 App Navigation using Bluetooth Keyboard Commands (Quick Nav is ON)
The App Navigation chapter reviews and expands app navigation – moving within apps such as Pages/Google Docs, Dropbox/Google Drive, Mail, iBooks and Safari – using a Bluetooth keyboard. All activities in App Navigation will have Quick Nav on.
This chapter reviews and expands how to use the Bluetooth keyboard editing and manipulating text commands. It is more efficient to use a Bluetooth keyboard to type longer sections of text, to edit text and/or manipulate (cut, copy, paste, highlight, etc.) text than it is to use the on-screen keyboard. Chapter 5 discusses how to edit and manipulate documents in “editable text fields” such as Pages, Google Docs, writing emails and Notes with Quick Nav Off.
Chapter 6 focuses on how to use the Bluetooth keyboard to manipulate text in Read-Only apps such as iBooks and Safari. Read-only means that you can read the text but you cannot add, delete, or change the text. However, you can often manipulate (copy) the text; with some texts, you can highlight, underline and create margin notes. Quick Nav is On.
