Perkins International has been working in Africa and the Middle East since the early 1990s to create quality educational opportunities for children and young adults who are blind, deafblind and visually impaired with additional disabilities. We serve as a convener, advisor and resource for organizations working to increase educational and life opportunities for children who are blind or visually impaired and have multiple disabilities.

Through the Perkins International Educational Leadership Program, we've trained 38 educators who returned home to lead change for children in countries across Africa and the Middle East.

Perkins is a founding convener of the Africa Forum, an international gathering of experts, educators, innovators and advocates from across the continent, leading work of and for children, young people and adults with visual impairment.
