Biographical/Historical notes:

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Halifax Explosion, the Archives and Research Library staff curated an online exhibit about Edward E. Allen’s involvement in the relief efforts. The exhibit called for a re-evaluation and review of the Halifax Disaster Collection (AG71) and other materials in the collections. In addition to an online exhibit, the entire Halifax Disaster Collection was digitized during the project and made available on the Internet Archive. Newly discovered clippings were added to a Flickr album. The exhibit was shared on social media and featured in a Boston Globe article.
