Perkins School for the Blind Archives (“Perkins Archives”) provides reproductions of materials from its collections in its capacity as owner of the physical materials. Questions and clarification of intended use can be directed to [email protected].

Terms & conditions

Low-resolution scans (PDF) can be provided and are available for most materials in the Perkins Archives collections. Perkins Archives reserves the right to refuse a reproduction request for any reason, including, but not limited to, the condition of the material or copyright concerns. Items will only be scanned or digitized when such reproductions can be produced without any damage to the materials and will not violate United States copyright law. Some items may not be scanned or digitized if they contain sensitive information.

Users are responsible for identifying the specific items that they wish to have reproduced.

Once a request is approved, the Archives staff will provide an estimate of the time required to complete the request and a preliminary invoice for your approval. Once an order has been completed and the invoice paid in full, files will be sent.

Payment must be received before your reproductions are delivered. Once paid, Perkins Archives will not adjust final charges unless the cost of your order changes significantly due to unforeseen issues.

Please note that all reference reproductions are for personal/study use only. They may not be donated or deposited in other libraries or archives or made available to others without the written permission of the Perkins Archives.

Ownership and use of reproduced material do not imply permission to publish or quote from documents.  It is the sole responsibility of the user to obtain formal written permission from the Perkins Archives or, when applicable, the appropriate copyright owner. For information about requesting permissions, please refer to “Use and Licensing of Perkins Images.”

Users shall indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Perkins and its employees, directors, officers, and agents from and against any and all claims, injuries, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses of every kind and nature, including, but not limited to attorneys’ fees, regardless of whether caused in part by Perkins, arising out of or in any way related to (1) any injury to any person or damage to property, including materials, arising out of User’s presence on Perkins’ property; (2) any and all other acts, omissions or errors of User; and (3) any breach or default of any term or obligation in this contract.
