Marguerite Tibaudo, M.Ed., TVI

Education Director of the Deafblind Program

About

Marguerite has over 20 years of service in the field of visual impairments, multiple disabilities and Deafblindness—as Lead Teacher of the Deafblind Program at Perkins, as a classroom teacher and as a specialty early intervention provider for children who were Deaf or hard-of-hearing. She is now the Executive Director of the Deafblind Program.

Marguerite received her Master of Education degree from Boston College in severe special education with a specialization in deafblindness. While at Boston College, Marguerite was awarded the Helen Keller Fellowship. In 2019, Marguerite received her second master’s of education degree by completing the TVI program through the University of Massachusetts, Boston and was in the first cohort of students pursuing the CVI Certification through UMASS Boston. Additional degrees and certifications include a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology from Northeastern University and a graduate certificate through Gallaudet University for the completion of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Infants, Toddlers and their Families: Collaboration and leadership Interdisciplinary program.

Marguerite first became interested in CVI in 2010 after several of her students were diagnosed with CVI. From there, she pursued professional development with practitioners, researchers and mentors in the field. These learning opportunities have allowed her to develop an inclusive and comprehensive approach to evaluating students with CVI and implementing unique teaching strategies. Marguerite has led multiple trainings on the impact of deafblindness and CVI-related content through Perkins eLearning webinars and courses, Perkins International and professional conferences.
