Going the extra mile…and more

It takes a special person to run 26.2 miles for someone else. On Monday, April 17, 2017, two special individuals did just that – running the 121st Boston Marathon for Perkins School for the Blind. Together, along with an injured teammate, they raised over $19,000 to fund blindness education programs for children in local communities and around the world. Read our runners' personal stories, make a gift in support of a team member and check out photos from the day.

When Jennifer decided to run the Boston Marathon, she knew it had to be for Perkins. For Jennifer, the Marathon is an opportunity to share her passion for Perkins' mission and give back to the dedicated staff members she works with every day.

Sophia Katz

Ask Sophia why she joined Team Perkins, and she'll tell you it's for the kids. As a behavior analyst in our Lower School Program, she's constantly amazed by her students. She hopes to amaze them by running her first Boston Marathon for Perkins.

Lindy Pabian

As a speech-language pathologist in our Deafblind Program, Lindy counts herself "lucky enough to see what a wonderful and special place Perkins is first-hand." A seasoned Marathon runner, Lindy says this Boston Marathon will be her most special one because she's running for a cause close to her heart.
