Biographical/Historical notes:

Over the course of the 1950s, Perkins held annual Christmas concerts, open houses, receptions, performances, parenting classes, and graduations. In November 1955, the school changed names from “Perkins Institution and Massachusetts School for the Blind” to “Perkins School for the Blind.” This collection has materials that refer to both “Perkins Institution” and “Perkins School.” During this period, the Perkins school partnered with Graduate School of Education at Boston University to offer courses and a certificate for teaching blind or deafblind students. In 1957, the School celebrated its 125th anniversary.
