A collection of clippings and other literature collected by Maria Ritchie. Topics include Boston Nursery for Blind Babies, retrolental fibroplasia (retinopathy of prematurity), and Perkins’ early work with infants and their mothers in the late 1940s. Most of the articles are about work for babies with retinopathy of prematurity being done in the Boston area.

Biographical/Historical notes:

Maria Dickson (1906-1998) was born in Banbridge, Ireland and was married to George Ritchie (born in 1905 in Aberdeen, Scotland). They resided in Malden, Massachusetts and in 1945 Mrs. Ritchie and her son attended the Nursery School project at Perkins.

This collection was donated by Wallace Ritchie’s brother, who is a relative of former Perkins staff member, Peg Cleary. Ms. Cleary assisted with getting the donation to the Archives.
