Join us for our Summer 6-Week World of Work
Teenagers who are visually impaired often have fewer opportunities for employment during the summer. Employment experience combined with a shared apartment life helps students be more successful in college, in future jobs, in managing dorm life, and in independent living.
The Outreach Summer Employment Program places high school students ages 16 – 22 in entry-level positions in the greater Watertown area.

About the World of Work program
Students are matched to a job and provided with a job coach to support them, as needed, as they work independently. They work Monday through Friday and receive a weekly paycheck. Students live in supervised housing on Perkins campus. They are responsible for the management of their living environment (i.e. grocery shopping, meal preparation, laundry and housekeeping) and in the planning of recreational activities, with staff support. Students must be independent in their daily living skills.
