Recreation Aide 

Description: Volunteers assist the supervisors in implementing planned recreational activities. Volunteers receive training from the recreation supervisor, with emphasis on safety, techniques and activities. Information about the student is provided to the volunteer prior to interacting with the students.

Time Commitment: Two hours per week

More Information: Perkins plans and organizes many recreational activities for students during after-school hours, which usually take place on campus in the Howe Building Gymnasium. Students participate in activities specific to their needs and include adapted basketball games, roller-skating, and individual exercise programs using special equipment for developing fitness. A recreation supervisor organizes games and exercises for individuals and groups. Most activities take place between 4 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
