You Know You Are Old When…

Recently, I was slapped in the face with a huge YOU KNOW YOU ARE OLD moment.

My oldest son is going to his 25th high school reunion. It is not that I am struggling with him being that old. I am struggling with the fact that it feels like I went to my 25th reunion yesterday. I remember every single thing about it like it just happened. And it was over 20 years ago.

Well, this got me thinking about other things that make me feel old, so I decided to start writing them down. Before the list gets too long, I had better get this blog entry done. By the way, I had to write them down as I thought of them because my short term memory is not what it used to be.

You get carded in an airport bar because they have to card everyone and you realize you equal 3 21 year olds.

You think the Beatles being on Ed Sullivan was a historic event.

Sleeping until 7:00 am is sleeping in and staying up to 11:00 pm is staying up late.

Movies in the theater are too loud but the TV is always too soft.  Why do they put that loud background music and loud stuff so much louder than the people who mumble?  Do people really like laugh tracks?  Can't we figure out when something is funny all by ourselves?

What are they saying in that song?  I think the words to popular songs are in secret code that you can't understand over 50.

Remember when you could lose 5 pounds in a week without even trying and 10 pounds with a little effort.

I know there are good things about getting old but that list will come later.
