Do You Have Your Digital NLS Player?

Does everyone who is registered with the National Library Service book reading program have their wonderful new digital player? Although I am a big fan of the smaller talking book players, I still often turn to the NLS player. I use both a Victor Stream and a Milestone when a portable player is needed. I like to tuck one under my pillow and take one with me when I travel. I have also started using Read2Go, a Bookshare app for my iPhone. Now I truly can read anywhere at any time.

However, sometimes I really want the volume and sound quality I get from my NLS player. Putting the player on my kitchen counter lets me move freely around while I cook. I can also bring the player outside while I work in the yard without missing a moment’s reading.

Recently I visited the website www.blindmicemart.com. This site has hundreds of audio described movies that you can download after you create a free account with them. These movies can be played on most players but sound amazing on the NLS player. Yes, you can download these movies onto the reusable cartridges. I just finished Midnight in Paris.

Are you looking for the perfect Mother’s or Father’s Day gift for a talking book user? Would you like to find a way to better connect with an elderly neighbor or relative? You could sign them up for the BARD program and use their account to download books for them. There is nothing like a good book to get a conversation going. You can use our postage-free mailing containers to send the cartridges back and forth.

If you are thinking about carrying your player from place to place, you might want to think about purchasing the carrying case that is available for the player.

You will really be amazed at the selection of books that are available on the BARD website. Many books are added weekly including new best sellers and old favorites.
