"Exceptional" Designation - Achieving a 4-Star Rating

Charity Navigator is America's largest independent, non-profit evaluator of charities. Its mission is "to advance a more efficient and responsive philanthropic marketplace by evaluating the financial health of America's largest charities." Each year, Charity Navigator evaluates Perkins' programs, administrative, and fundraising expenses, as well as fundraising efficiency and program growth.

Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that a charitable organization adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way. Approximately a quarter of the charities that Charity Navigator evaluates receive their highest rating, therefore indicating that Perkins School for the Blind outperforms most other charities in America. This “exceptional” designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Perkins School for the Blind from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.  See Perkins page on Charity Navigator.
