About the Perkins Trust
Perkins School for the Blind created the Perkins Trust in 2007 to advance its mission and its local, regional, national and international programs through philanthropy. The Trust reports to the President and the Perkins Board of Trustees and is advised by the Trust Board. Since its inception, the Trust and Trust Board Chair Corinne Grousbeck have recruited an exceptional group of volunteer leaders.
Leading the Perkins Trust and its campaigns, including the “Touch Our World” Comprehensive Campaign:

Kathy Sheehan joined Perkins in October 2009 as Executive Director of the Perkins Trust. She previously worked at Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston as Chief Advancement Officer. Kathy led BGCB’s development effort for their groundbreaking $108 million Comprehensive Campaign that concluded in June 2008.
At Harvard, she developed a national network for non-alumni support for the Divinity School’s Women’s Studies in Religion Program. At Wellesley College, Kathy was a Senior Development Officer and served as Director of the College’s Business Leadership Council. Kathy serves on the board for the Massachusetts Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Kathy is a graduate of Smith College and earned a Master of Divinity at Boston University.
Over the course of her development work, Kathy has enjoyed working at what she considers institutions and organizations that are “best in their class” and Perkins certainly is a pioneer and a leader in its field.
Touch Our World Comprehensive Campaign
A campaign to turn possibilities into reality.
Touch Our World is a comprehensive campaign that focuses on program, endowment and capital initiatives that will support and realize our 2010-2015 Strategic Plan. Our strategic plan focuses on the following four essential areas to improve the lives of tens of thousands of people who are blind, deafblind, or blind with additional disabilities:
- Maintaining our excellence on campus
- Reaching new populations in our communities
- Expanding internationally
- Building partnerships
