2008 Perkins Possibilities Gala
The 2008 Perkins Possibilities Gala on May 1, 2008 was an amazing success! With the generosity of our supporters, we raised $1.2 million to advance Perkins' vision by supporting our work on campus, in the community, and around the world.
The Perkins campus welcomed 600 guests who mingled during a cocktail reception and dinner while listening to student performances, learning about technology at Perkins, and admiring artwork by Perkins students.
We raised $120,000 during an extremely successful live auction. Our guests generously participated in a Technology Challenge, raising $60,000 in much needed funds to support accessible technology.
The event garnered attention from the following days "Names" column in the Boston Globe. The Globe wrote: "More than $1 million had been raised before any of the several hundred guests arrived at the Perkins School for the Blind's swanky soiree last night. The fete was hosted by Boston Culinary Group chief Joe O'Donnell and Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck and his wife, Corinne. Among those expected were Celtics greats Bob Cousy and JoJo White, and a slew of current and former state pols including Martha Coakley, Tom Reilly, and Paul Cellucci."
Singer-songwriter Raul Midon, the night's featured performer, delighted guests with his unique fusion of jazz, blues, R&B, and folk stylings.
Finally, our guests had the opportunity to learn more about the life-changing work of Perkins with an inspiring 2008 Gala video that captured perfectly the essence of Perkins mission by showcasing the lives we have touched during the past year.
We want to thank everyone who made the 2008 Perkins Possibilities Gala such a triumph and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!
