The Pre-Employment Program team consists of Perkins School for the Blind educators with vast experience in vocational training and learning with blindness, as well as hiring experts, disability specialists and successful professionals who are blind.


Meet our curriculum designer

Karen Wolffe, expert on career counseling for people who are blind

Karen Wolffe headshot

The Pre-employment Program was designed and created in collaboration with Karen Wolffe. She has worked with the American Foundation for the Blind as Director of Professional Development and CareerConnect. Prior to that, she directed the Job Readiness Clinic, an applied learning lab for people with disabilities looking for work, at the University of Texas. Today she works privately as a career counselor and consultant in Austin, Texas.

Jessica Erlich, Perkins School for the Blind

Jessica Erlich headshot

Jessica is co-facilitator of the Pre-Employment Program. She is Assistant Director for Community Programs, working with itinerant teachers to provide quality services to public school students who are blind. She is also the Greater Boston Representative to the Association of Massachusetts Educators of Students with Visual Impairments. She previously served at Perkins as a lead teacher in Community Programs and an assistive technology liaison.

Kate Katulak, Perkins School for the Blind

Kate Katulak headshot

Kate is co-facilitator of the Pre-Employment Program. She teaches several subjects to high school students at Perkins including technology, executive functioning and math. She is a representative on Perkins' Expanded Core Curriculum Steering Committee and also helps design curricula across content areas. Prior to her current position, she taught students with visual impairments and provided professional training to colleagues at Stamford Public Schools.

PEP students have benefitted from the insight of representatives from corporate and nonprofit Perkins-Business Partnership partners, including WinterWyman, Tufts Health Plan, Partners Continuing Care, Inc.
