The archives include extensive materials related to the history of Perkins, including the papers of the former directors, annual reports, photographs, publications, teachers' reports on students, and senior essays of Perkins graduates. The repository also includes the Nella Braddy Henney collection of the correspondence between Helen Keller, Anne Sullivan Macy and Henney.
Annual reports and publications from many early schools for the blind and clipping files reflecting the news and perceptions about blindness in the early 19th and 20th century are available. The archives also house an extensive collection of materials related to "the blind in art."
Appointments to view the archival materials at the Samuel P. Hayes Research Library should be arranged by contacting the research librarian at 617-972-7250 or HayesLibrary@Perkins.org.
