Sally S. Boyd

Supervisor
Sally Boyd has been with Perkins for 23 years. As supervisor of Community Living Services, she oversees a program for young adults living in their own apartments in the community with staff support. In addition to this role, she assists the supervisor of the Secondary Program. Prior to coming to Perkins, Sally was the program director for staffed apartments at Transitional Resources, Inc. She was also assistant professor of health education at Northeastern University where she supervised student teachers and community health interns, taught health education and public health, and conducted stress management training, both on campus and in corporations.
She was awarded her doctoral degree in Rehabilitation Administration from Northeastern University in 1982. Her doctoral research on independent living for individuals with severe disabilities won a Phi Kappa Phi dissertation award. She received her master's degree in Health Dynamics and bachelor's degree in Health Education, both from Boston University.
Sally has also been professionally active in human services provider groups and human rights organizations for adults during her years at Perkins. She served as a member of the board of directors and the human rights committee at Transitional Resources, Inc.
In addition, she wrote a paper, "Shifting Paradigms in Disability Services: Implications for the 21st Century," which she delivered at a social values conference at the University of Oxford in 1997 and which was later published in the proceedings.
