Michael J. Bina

School Programs

Dr. Bina is the Superintendent of School Programs at the Perkins School for the Blind. In this position, he oversees the Education Directors in the Deafblind, Secondary, Lower School, Preschool, Educational Partnerships, Admissions, Licensing and Professional Staff Development, Health Services, Outreach Services (which includes the Perkins Training Center and Low Vision Clinic), and Community Services programs.

Dr. Bina joined Perkins after serving as President of the Hadley School for the Blind, an international distance learning school which serves 10,000 students in all 50 states and in 90 other countries, and as superintendent of the Indiana School for the Blind.

He brings to Perkins the expertise he also gained as Principal of the Texas School for the Blind, Director of Special Education in Janesville, Wisconsin, and as Orientation and Mobility instructor and boys and girls swimming, track, and cross country coach at the Wisconsin School for the Visually Handicapped.

Dr. Bina received his Masters from California State University in Los Angeles and Doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado. He has served as President of the International Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired and as President of the Council of Schools for the Blind.
