Assistive Device Center Workshops
2008 Workshops
Thanks to support from the Perkins Training Center the following trainings have been scheduled. Course announcements with more information will be distributed as each date approaches. Workshops will run from 9:00 until 4:00 unless otherwise indicated. PDPs are available when at least 10 hours worth of training has been completed. This can be achieved through attending a workshop and completing a follow-up project or by attending two workshops

Tuesday, 5/27 Customized Classroom Activities and Assistive Devices for Children with Multiple Disabilities. (Share ideas for sensory exploration, cause and effect concept development, insertion, object manipulation, work-related activities, and basic games.)
Tuesday, 9/30 Introduction to Cardboard Carpentry. (Build assistive devices out of TriWall®, a three layered corrugated material.)
Tuesday, 10/28 Custom-Made Positioning Equipment Constructed from Corrugated Cardboard, Foam and Fabric (Make chairs, wedges, side-lyers, bolsters, standing boxes, or seat inserts.)
Tuesday, 12/2 Plastics and Fabrics in Adaptive Design. (Make Sculpey utensil grips, angled writing stands, sensory trays, handles for paint brushes, and stabilizers for wet places using plastics. Sew terrycloth –filled bandanas, scented bean bags, and textured items. Make texture boards or Veltex-covered display stands.)
