Listen to Perkins Products Vice President David Morgan talk about all things braille and his department's brand new Perkins SMART Brailler®, which aims to reinforce the relevance and utter importance of braille in the US, as well as around world, through the marrying of traditional brailler mechanics (originally developed by Perkins in 1951) and modern-day technology.

"We think text-to-speech output incorporated into a brailler will help re-energize braille in the US," Morgan said on WYPL-FM 89.3, Memphis Public Library's radio station, which "(satisfies) the need-to-know for the visually impaired population," according to its website.

WYPL-FM's show EYE ON VISION, hosted by Janet Sides, airs every Saturday, at 7 p.m., and each Sunday, at 1 p.m., EST.
