The NEW Next Generation™ Perkins/APH Brailler

Yegue, a Perkins alumnus, tries out the Raspberry Next Generation Perkins Brailler. Text: Perkins Brailler The Next Generation. Less Force. Less Weight. Less Noise. More possibilities.

We have taken the most widely-used braille writer in the world – the Perkins Brailler® – and made it even better by adding exciting new features you have been asking for.

The NEW Next Generation™ Perkins/APH Brailler® emerges 57 years after Perkins School for the Blind unveiled the Classic Perkins Brailler. The new brailler comes to you thanks to the combined efforts of Perkins Products and the American Printing House for the Blind (APH). The Next Generation retains all the attributes of our classic model but it is now 25% lighter and easier to use than ever before.

The Next Generation Perkins/APH Brailler is:

An orange arrow  More portable due to its lighter weight and smaller size
An orange arrow  More comfortable to use with a shorter keystroke and less force required
An orange arrow  Quieter

New features and improvements in the Next Generation Perkins/APH Brailler include:

An orange arrow  An Easy-Erase Button so you can correct mistakes while brailling
An orange arrow  A Reading Rest so you can proofread the page with ease
An orange arrow  Front Panel Margin Guides so you don’t have to reach around the back
An orange arrow  Greener construction through the use of less oil and manufactured materials
An orange arrow  Modern colors and a sleek, new design

"The Next Generation Perkins/APH Brailler is a huge step forward for greater literacy – and, therefore, greater employment possibilities – which will help more people who are blind to live more independently," says Perkins President Steven Rothstein. "Thanks to the unparalleled support of Tuck Tinsley and the APH team, the Next Generation Perkins/APH Brailler will be part of a brighter future for so many people. "

Listen to "The Next Generation," a song written specifically for the Next Generation Perkins/APH Brailler by Raul Midón, a highly talented and successful musician who is himself blind.
