A Warm Heart on a Cold Night
At Perkins 2010 Holiday Concert, Victoria Reggie Kennedy proudly accepted an award on behalf of her late husband, Senator Edward M. Kennedy, from Perkins School for the Blind President Steven Rothstein and Perkins Board of Trustees Chair Frederic Clifford.
The award recognized the senator for a lifetime of public service that helped improve opportunities for people with disabilities. In presenting the Perkins Presidential Award, Rothstein said, “There is no one who has done more to impact the lives of our students and graduates than Senator Edward Kennedy.”
Mrs. Kennedy said, “I am so honored to accept this award on his behalf and in his memory. If he were here today, he would be so proud to see these students singing and see the magnificent job you’re doing here at Perkins every day. This is what Teddy fought for. My heart is warm on this very cold night.”
At the annual holiday concert in Dwight Hall in the historic Howe Building, the Upper School Chorus, Chamber Singers, the Handbell Ensemble and vocal soloists performed a variety of holiday-themed songs.
