Congratulations 2008 Early Learning Center Graduates!

It was an emotional and moving celebration for teachers, families, and friends at Perkins' Early Learning Center Graduation ceremony on July 23. 

Two students - Abby and Sai - received diplomas from Perkins Early Learning Center and their classmates were all there to share in the special day.

"I think Abby has taught me just about as much as I've taught her," Meghan Aycock, Abby's teacher, said through tears of joy as she held the preschool graduate on her lap. 

Sai's teacher, Beth, said she will miss his laughter and his sense of humor.
"I'm so lucky to have Sai as one of my first students because he really loves to learn," she said, adding that Sai began each morning with a big smile and a question: "Can we do work today?"

Sai and Abby sang songs with preschool classmates. A certificate was presented to each student recognizing their unique personalities. Sai took home the "Bill Gates Award" for his love of computer science and Abby received a "Little Miss Sunshine Award" for her positive spirit and sunny disposition. Other student certificates included the "Dance Fever Award" and "Old McDonald Award."

Students had the chance to play and pet barnyard animals including chicks, ducklings, and baby goats.

The ceremony ended with an adapted Harry Belafonte farewell song: "I'm sad to say I'm on my way/ Won't be back for many a day/ My heart is down, my head is turning around/ I will miss all my friends in Preschool Town."
