2012 Perkins Possibilities Gala

The Rascals perform with Perkins Chorus

Perkins students joined '60s rockers Felix Cavaliere and The Rascals while off-stage guests sang and danced along to 'Good Lovin’ and 'It’s a Beautiful Mornin’, at the 600-person dinner party of the 2012 Possibilities Gala.

Guest alumni speaker, Katie Condo (Perkins ’08), is congratulated by student emcee Sam Robson. Katie, now an upper classman at Bridgewater State University, spoke extemporaneously and passionately of her experiences at Perkins as 'integral to who I am.'

On Thursday, May 3, 2012, Perkins School for the Blind held its seventh annual Perkins Possibilities Gala. Guests were moved by stories from students and parents about what really happens every day at Perkins. The crowd was then entertained by show tunes from “Grease!” performed by the Secondary Chorus. Our student musicians also performed with Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Felix Cavaliere and The Rascals. For the first time, the entire event was emcee’d by students. Those duties were ably handled by Secondary School “personalities,” Michelle Smith and Sam Robson, with appearances and presentations by fellow students in their film and video class.

Perkins President Steven Rothstein met up with Emerson College President Lee Pelton at the pre-dinner reception.

The generosity of many, many donors combined to raise over $1.6 million for Perkins education programs, with $180,000 raised specifically for technology. Special thanks to our dedicated co-chairs Corinne Grousbeck, Kevin Bright and Joe O'Donnell and the entire Gala Committee for their leadership.
