More about...
Supporting Parents
Parent groups empower family members to be directly involved in the education of their child.
Perkins encourages local partners to work in partnership with families and to include parents in training and program activities.
In Indonesia, Perkins works with the Helen Keller School on a project to provide services to families.
In China, parent meetings have been organized at multiple schools, including major cities such as Chengdu, Beijing, Guangzhou, Qingdao, and Shanghai.
In Nepal, field workers provide services to children with multiple disabilities and their families in their homes and local communities.
The Parent Advocates for Visually Impaired Children (PAVIC) in the Philippines collaborates with Perkins to provide subsidized therapy services to low-income families. PAVIC networks with local hospitals and the government to maximize its outreach to children.
PAVIC also organized the first National Parent Congress. Held in Manila under the banner "Hope for a Brighter Future", more than 150 parents attended.
