Let’s end the global shortage of qualified teachers
Perkins International Academy is a sustainable, measurable solution to the global shortage of qualified special educators.
Our expert training will equip teachers in your country with the knowledge and skills they need to ensure a quality education for students with multiple disabilities, including deafblindness.
These students are some of the most vulnerable in the world – and the least likely to receive an education.
Let’s work together to train more teachers and achieve the ambitious targets outlined under Goal 4 of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Certified teacher training
Training through Perkins International Academy is backed by Perkins School for the Blind, the global leader in the education of children with multiple disabilities and visual impairment.
Participants who successfully complete Perkins International Academy courses will earn certificates demonstrating their competency in the knowledge and skills required to deliver high-quality special education services.
For government ministries, these Perkins certificates can also be cobranded with your endorsement to help your country achieve measurable progress toward Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals – all while laying the groundwork for sustainable improvements to special education programs.
The global standard
We’ve consolidated 95 years of global teacher training expertise into our first Perkins International Academy course, Education of Learners with Multiple Disabilities and Sensory Loss – Foundations Level.
The course establishes the first-ever international competency standard for teachers working with children with multiple disabilities.
The course curriculum can be adapted for in-person training, online learning, or combined for a hybrid training model.
