Developing and Translating Materials Around the World
Producing and Translating Materials in Central and Eastern Europe
Perkins translates resource books, manuals and training materials into numerous Central and Eastern European languages. We also support the primary production of materials in local languages. One recent success story was the writing and publication of a Czech book, Eliska. This story intimately portrays the life of a parent and deafblind child. It has been received so well in the Czech Republic that Perkins is supporting the translation into English so that it can be available to more families and professionals.

Producing and Translating Materials in Asia
Perkins' international approach prioritizes the development of resources and materials that are appropriate and accessible for each community.
In India, Voice and Vision serves as a resource center for materials by developing a library including print materials, video/DVD/CDs, and full training modules (print and CDROM).
Perkins has also translated Creating Play Environments for Children with Sensory Impairments into Thai (Thailand), Bahasa (Indonesia), and Tamil and Hindi (India).

Producing and Translating Materials in Latin America
In Latin America, we regularly collect locally-developed materials and articles and distribute a CD of bibliographic information with over 75 articles in 1,500 pages in Spanish. We distribute more than 300 copies annually. At our office in Argentina, we maintain a database with books, articles and videos in Spanish. We also produce a CD in Portuguese for programs in Brazil. The majority of this information is authored in Latin America.
