Put on a blindfold, team up with a sighted guide and run without the benefit of sight.
The Blindfold Challenge is a collaborative event held by Perkins School for the Blind in partnership with the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (MABVI) and National Braille Press.
During the Blindfold Challenge, runners and sighted guides are connected by a two-foot tether and run the same course, at the same time and under the same circumstances as the other participants in the B.A.A. 5K on Saturday, April 15, 2017.
By the time our runners cross the finish line, they'll understand what anyone with a vision impairment already knows; that being blind won't hold you back, that you don't need your eyes to see what's inside you – that, in the end, fear is the greatest disability.
The Boston Athletic Association's inclusion of the Blindfold Challenge in the B.A.A. 5K helps bring awareness and resources to essential efforts to give blind or visually impaired children and adults the power to live more independently.
