Outreach: Low Vision Clinic

The New England Eye Institute and Perkins combine the educational expertise from Perkins and the clinical expertise from New England Eye Institute to provide quality primary and consultative eye care for individuals throughout New England.

Using a collaborative approach, both educators and optometrists work side by side during the clinical examination to determine the current level of visual functioning to prescribe devices (as needed), develop appropriate therapies, and offer education/rehabilitation recommendations.

While majority of our patients are pre-school and school-age children with a visual impairment and multiple needs or disabilities, we also see a wide variety of people of all ages in the clinic, including adults with visual impairments and/or multiple physical/cognitive disabilities.
