Evaluations for Other Programs

Perkins is committed to using our expertise in working with the visually impaired to aid schools and other organizations that serve this population. We provide professional evaluation of programs using both national and state guidelines to enable school systems to review, reassess and, if needed, revise service and support systems for their students and their families.

We provide evaluation services to:

  • Evaluation and Assessments for Students

    Our staff conducts specialized diagnostic assessments and evaluations in both children's home and community settings to help school systems, early intervention agencies and families develop educational programming and instructional strategies. Assessment topics include:

  • activities of daily living
  • childhood development and academics
  • functional vision
  • learning media
  • orientation & mobility
  • environmental
  • adaptive technology
  • specialized communication
  • varied learning styles
  • specialized feeding evaluations

  • In addition, clinical low vision evaluations can be scheduled at the Perkins Low Vision Clinic, staffed by optometrists from the New England Eye Institute.
